The number of appointments required will differ depending on the type and severity of the injury. We strive to deliver the most efficient treatments to help you get back to being your best as soon as possible.
Please note that we view a success as someone who does not need to come back for more sessions. Further, if we believe that physio is not right for you and another form of treatment or referral would be more advantageous for a better result, we will be honest with you and let you know.
-
Physiotherapy treatment should be gentle. Causing pain for no reason is not something that is practised at Best Physiotherapy. However, we acknowledge that depending on the condition, certain techniques can be a bit uncomfortable. It is important to feed back to your therapist how you are feeling and if you are experiencing any pain.
-
Yes, the physiotherapists treat children. We ask though for all appointments with minors that the parents or guardians are in the treatment room for the duration of treatment. This ensures both that the assessment, diagnosis and treatment are understood and agreed to and that the minor feels comfortable.
-
At the initial appointment you can expect your physiotherapist to take a full history of your condition. This will involve chatting through the mechanism of the condition, your other previous medical and injury history and your goals.
We will then perform an examination. This may involve asking you to move certain parts of your body, completing functional movements and touching areas of concern. During the examination and treatment you may need to take off some of your clothing so the Physiotherapist can assess. (You are welcome to have a support person in the therapy room if it makes you more comfortable). We will seek permission before any part of the assessment and will be completely accommodating about any requests you may have to modify the assessment.
After we have assessed the injury we will explain your diagnosis and treatment options.
We have a variety of treatment techniques and exercise rehabilitation options available. We will encourage you to feed back to ensure that the treatment plan we select is in line with your goals and is comfortable, safe and achievable for you to follow.
You are encouraged to ask as many questions about your diagnosis and treatment as you need. If the Physiotherapist is unable to help immediately help you, they will endeavour to find the answer or will do their best to refer you to most appropriate Doctor, Specialist or Therapist.
-
Appointments with the physiotherapist will generally last for 30 minutes, however the actual time with the therapist may vary slightly depending on a range of factors.
-
Please wear clothing that you are able to expose the injured area with, and keep in mind most sessions we will undertake some sort of exercise.
